Chicago Southland Convention & Visitors Bureau Adds New Sports Sales Executive

The Chicago Southland Convention & Visitors Bureau welcomes Joel Koester as their new Sports Sales Executive. Koester will be responsible for attracting new sporting and specialty events to the Chicago Southland, generating overnight stays and associated visitor spending within the region. In addition, he is involved in management of the Chicago Southland Sports Commission, a group of regional recreational, hospitality, venue, and business leaders.

“Joel is a great addition to our already strong sales team,” said President/CEO Jim Garrett of the Chicago Southland CVB, “his drive and passion for sports will help attract and close new sports business in the Chicago Southland."

Koester is the former Sales and Marketing Manager for the Coyote Springs Golf Club in Coyote Springs, NV, located just outside Las Vegas. He is also a former intern with First Tee of Southern Nevada in Las Vegas and at the Medinah Country Club in Medinah, IL. A native of Woodstock, IL, Koester graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, in 2008 with a B.A. in Recreation and Sports Management.

“With a variety of fields and 36 golf courses, the 62 diverse communities of the Chicago Southland present a unique opportunity,” said Koester. “We have a great group of dedicated professionals working together toward a common goal of increasing sports business in the region.”

The Chicago Southland Convention & Visitors Bureau represents 62 south and soutwestern suburbs. The organization markets the Southland region as a leisure, meetings and conventions, group tour, and sports event destination.
