In the age of health care mergers, many hospitals are tasked with the responsibility to reintroduce themselves to a crowded market. Delnor Hospital in Geneva decided to do so with a memorable social event, inviting current, past, and prospective supporters to the hospital, which recently joined forces with Northwestern Medicine. Owner/Planner of Perfectly Planned Events Mindy Loughead designed a retro airline travel theme to accomplish the mission. “Come Fly Away with Us” allowed guests to see the property in a unique, behind-the-scenes experience.

Custom travel itineraries were created, along with boarding passes to various activities, including a look at the newly built Cancer Treatment Center, a lesson in Diagnostic Imaging, the ability to participate in an infant delivery and adult cardiac arrest scenario in a Simulation Training Lab, and participation in a training simulator for the daVinci Robotics surgery system.

Afterwards, guests moved to their seat in First Class for hors d’oeuvres and cocktails provided by True Cuisine, entertainment from the Rat Pack Entertainment and remarks from various personnel with the hospital. Other suppliers included décor from SBR Events Group, floral from Elizabeth Wray Design and print materials from Affinity Creative.

Woodfield Mall, Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel, and more attractive meeting and event spaces make this northwest suburb a destination in itself.
