The All-New Space is Open for Business

Book your event in a space with a blank canvas and let your ideas inform the venue. That’s the idea behind the new IDEA Studio in downtown Chicago. Housed in the International Interior Design Association office, this venue has an intricate mosaic-tiled entryway, which gives way to walls of windows and a clean design that serves as a canvas for any kind of event. Amenities like state-of-the-art A/V and meals in the on-site catering kitchen can be included.

“Our guests love the openness and personality of the space,” says Anastasia Gedman, special events manager at IIDA. “Clients aren’t confined to a dull, windowless meeting room—instead, they are surrounded by floor-to-ceiling views of Michigan Avenue and custom-designed offices.”

The IIDA office offers 2,800 square feet of flexible space. Smaller options include an executive boardroom, multiple conference rooms, a reception space and intimate lounge vignettes.

Summertime in Chicago means it’s time to break out the chilly desserts. We tapped Starr Nordgren, also known as @chicagofoodiegirl to her 33,000 Instagram followers, to pick fi ve delicious ice cream treats to add to menus this season.

PARLOR PIZZA BAR’S ICE CREAM TACOS

Executive chef Jaysen Euler has become an Instagram sensation with his “Tacolato,” a waffle-shell dessert taco. The Cookie Monster and Unicorn Dreams flavors are the most popular.

BOMBOBAR’S COOLER CHOCOLATE

Gain insight from a professional who increased room block bookings by 30 percent over three years.

Scott Castillo-Milburn, owner of mobile bartending service Classic Cocktails by Scott, developed this recipe last summer for a client who was looking for a bourbon-based drink that would feel seasonal and light for an evening party. The night ended with everyone who’d tried it asking for the recipe, and Castillo-Milburn has since replicated it at 10 events. He’s kept the drink a secret—until now. You can hire his company to create this drink for an event, create a new signature cocktail, or even obtain general liability or liquor liability insurance for your venue.
