Arcada Theatre: This 900-seat music venue has brought big names to town such as LeAnn Rimes, the Late Joan Rivers, Pat Benatar and Bret Michaels. It’s also available to rent and is equipped with a 50-foot movie screen, historic Spanish architecture, and an experienced event staff to help any event run smoothly.

Hilton Garden Inn: Almost 4,400 square feet of adaptable space are available for flexible meetings and events at this hotel. The Hilton Garden Inn can accommodate up to 225 guests for a banquet or conference and offers a team of meeting and event planners as well as on-site catering.

Hotel Baker: This restored hotel is 90 years young this year! It offers 53 unique guest rooms and suites, an exercise room, restaurant and lounge onsite. Seven meeting rooms are available for groups up to 200, as well as three outdoor meeting spaces with river views and an oval-shaped ballroom featuring a lighted floor – one of only three in the world.

Kane County Fairgrounds: Visitors can also explore the fairgrounds, home to the annual Kane County Fair and Kane County Flea Market, as well as indoor and outdoor facilities for rent. A 32,000-square-foot indoor exhibition hall, grandstand with dirt track with seating for 3,500, a show ring, multiple show barns, and RV hook-ups are all available on the grounds.

Pheasant Run Resort: Planners and attendees can find everything they need under one roof at Pheasant Run Resort. The 250-acre campus is complete with over 80,000 square feet of meeting space, 36-holes of championship golf, the 38,250-square-foot Expo Center, an indoor and outdoor pool, multiple restaurants, a spa, a comedy club and plentiful guest rooms.

Q Center: With 1,042 guest rooms and over 150,000 square feet of IACC-certified meeting space, Q Center is one of the largest meeting facilities in the world. The property offers a business center, lounge, spa and gym, plus an onsite events and media team who can set you up with a hologram.

Baltria Vintage Auto: Between the vintage auto gallery, specialty car shows and the private event space, Baltria has something for everyone.

Fine Line Creative Arts Center: Get your hands a little dirty and create yourself with classes and workshops at Fine Line Creative Arts Center. Classes range from fused glass sessions to the secrets of pastel painting and are available to all skill levels.

Garfield Farm & Inn Museum: Get back to nature with educational, family, and entertainment events; seminars and classes on topics like ginger ale making and blacksmithing 101; prairie walks; barn dances; specialty shows and candlelight inn receptions.

Immerse Yourself in Nature: The Forest Preserve District of Kane County offers 20,000 acres of public open space including bike trails, and golf courses to explore year-round from sunrise to sunset. While there, check out the Creek Bend Nature Center, a 1930s venue that features hands-on exhibits, interpretive displays, and guided nature hikes. Creek Bend Nature Center, the adjoining house and grounds are also available for private rental. Want to enjoy some time outside? Head to Pottawatomie Park to enjoy picnic areas, sand volleyball, miniature golf, tennis, fishing, kayak and pedal boat rentals, a community center, bike plaza and more.

Koi Whisperer Sanctuary and Japanese Garden: Experience beauty and purpose in this koi sanctuary and authentic Japanese gardens located on two acres along the Fox River.

Otter Cove Aquatic Park: Otter Cove features dozens of safe and exciting activities sure to appeal to every water enthusiast, from a lazy river to body slides – and all pools are heated. Additionally, the space is available to rent May 30 through mid-August.

Witness a Blossoming Art Scene: The Gallery of Nature at Wasco Nursery, an 840-square-foot, newly-remodeled gallery, features artists who interpret nature using a variety of media. For a real dose of local flair, stop by a “Meet the Artists” reception, which are always open to the public. Sculpture in the Park is an annual celebration of public art that takes place in Mt. St. Mary Park every May-September. It presents an engaging sculpture exhibition set against nature’s seasonal beauty along the scenic Fox River. Finally, stop by The 116 Gallery at Mixology Salon Spa to really feel like a local. This downtown art space features the works of new artists, and the spa offers everything from facials, to manicures and massages for guests to treat themselves.

St. Charles History Museum and Curious Gift Shop: Looking for a great memento to commemorate the visit? The Curious Fox Gift Shop is the perfect place to buy your St. Charles souvenirs. While there, check out the museum exhibits filled with fun facts about St. Charles’ rich history.

St. Charles Paddlewheel Riverboats: Cruise the Fox River from Pottawatomie Park on a public or private paddlewheel boat. Your group can either hop on for a daily, afternoon trip or reserve a private charter cruise for lunch or dinner. 

The Painted Vine Cellar: Groups of up to 50 people can ignite their artistic sides while sipping on wine or beer to create a lasting memory together. Art projects include painting on canvas, barnwood and more.

Centrally located in Illinois, about a two and half hour drive from Chicago, the city of Peoria has many exciting developments happening this year. Here are three to put on your radar.

1. The rustic-themed Bearded Owl Brewing opened in January with a variety of unfiltered beers ranging from stouts to India pale ales to sours, using locally grown ingredients wherever possible. While it doesn’t have designated event space, the brewery makes for a good post-meeting gathering spot for a round of beers and various homemade soft pretzels.
