• AHLA Launches #TakeMeBack Campaign To Create Nostalgia Around Travel

Due to COVID-19, non-essential travel was, or has been, banned for months. Long anticipated trips and in-person gatherings were canceled and people have adjusted to the new normal: staying at home and meeting over Zoom. However, states have been slowly lifting restrictions, and non-essential travel will soon be happening across the country again. However, some may not be as comfortable with the thought of traveling as they were before the pandemic.  

The American Hotel and Lodging Association, or AHLA, is anticipating such hesitation from potential travelers once leaving the house is safe. In response, the association is launching its #TakeMeBack campaign in order to promote thoughts of traveling once again, and to help people reminisce about memories made on unforgettable past trips. 

To participate, social media users can simply post a photo from past vacations with the hashtag #TakeMeBack, challenging friends to participate. Or, take AHLA’s This or That Instagram challenge, where users can share their dream travel agendas on their stories. Finally, AHLA offers sample or personalized e-postcards to share on social media to help reminisce and promote conversations about non-essential travel.

Remote working has become mainstream with the continued presence of COVID-19. While many people have welcomed the new normal of working from home, others miss the separation of spaces, as many corporate offices have remained closed since March. A $150 million adaptive reuse project restored the historic, 106-year-old hospital, which has become a combined Hyatt Place and Hyatt House hotel, as well as medical offices, a museum, a food hall and more. While the opening is multi-phased, the hotels are scheduled to open in late July.
