The efforts raised a total of $45,000 with everyone from Fairmont Chicago employees to hotel owners contributing.
The Sears Centre Arena will host "Carnevil" for the month of October in its 10,000-seat arena. This event will provide guests with five haunted houses and mazes, complete with Hollywood-caliber special effects and "slightly unhinged" actors playing disfigured clowns, nightmare-inducing circus freaks, blood-thirsty carnies and butchered corpses.
The attraction's #YouReallyGonnaEatThat Café will offer brave diners a buffet of deep fried roaches, beer battered crickets, chocolate covered worms alongside a full bar and "normal" menu.
In addition to activities, CEI launched an interactive, Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired map of the Loop neighborhood.
These achievements highlight Chicago’s continuing efforts to become the greenest city in the world and achieve 50 million annual visitors by 2020.
The Illinois Governor's Conference on Travel & Tourism has announced the date for the 2014 conference held in downtown Chicago. The event will take place February 3-5 at the Palmer House Hilton.
The conference conference committee, ICCVB and the Illinois Office of Tourism have planned to kick off the event with the Illinois Excellence in Tourism Awards featuring Bill Kurtis as the Master of Ceremony on Monday evening.
