Evanston's New Venues Prove Everything is Cooler by the Lake

IN THE LAST FEW YEARS, Evanston has earned some serious cred as a destination just outside Chicago with all the perks of the big city and small town combined. It started with food, of course, with the entrance and incredible success of sustainable restaurant Found Kitchen and Social House (run by Morton Steakhouse heir Amy Morton). Now, with a flurry of new restaurants and the opening of several unique event venues, Evanston has become the latest all-in-one hub for the city residents, tourists and, yes, even groups.

Sears Centre Arena to host "Carnevil"

The Sears Centre Arena will host "Carnevil" for the month of October in its 10,000-seat arena. This event will provide guests with five haunted houses and mazes, complete with Hollywood-caliber special effects and "slightly unhinged" actors playing disfigured clowns, nightmare-inducing circus freaks, blood-thirsty carnies and butchered corpses.

The attraction's #YouReallyGonnaEatThat Café will offer brave diners a buffet of deep fried roaches, beer battered crickets, chocolate covered worms alongside a full bar and "normal" menu.
