• Hi-Tech Hotels: Two Brands Announce New Services Geared to Meetings

    POSTED March 17, 2016

Hello readers,

There’s no stopping technology, especially when it comes to inventions that help keep meetings and events moving along. Business is booming for hospitality-driven interfaces—and two Chicago hotels are working to keep up with new purchases and partnerships that help put planners at ease.

InterContinental Chicago just announced the addition of BeamPro to its portfolio of meeting services. It is one of the first hotels to include the state-of-the-art platform that allows attendees to interact with remote locations and off-site individuals with a combination of high-end video, audio with the freedom of motion. The platform is actually a movable stand (running at 2 mph) that responds to voice and activity and rotates in kind to provide face-to-face contact with anyone speaking in the room. According to the manufacturer, Suitable Technologies, it offers two wide-angle cameras, a 6-microphone plug that reduces background noise, a 17" 4:3 LCD screen, powerful built-in speaker and eight hours of battery life.

Meanwhile, Conrad Chicago hotel has announced a partnership with Social Tables ahead of opening this summer along the Mag Mile. This award-winning tool offers a collaborative event planning experience. At the heart of it is 3D custom imaging software that allows planners to see an instant rendering of a space complete with décor, arrangements and even the outside views offered. By tapping into Social Tables, planners and on-site event staff can work together in real-time to design meetings and events from anywhere.

Further amenities provided by Conrad Chicago will include SMS digital communications, video conferencing and video messaging systems, ten multi-function meeting rooms for up to 150 and access to meeting concierge staff.

Happy Planning!

The park features a 31,950 square-foot lawn space and permanent seating, as well as night-sky friendly lights for star-watchers. Three food truck power outlets are available and standard outlets are located throughout the park.

In 1927, Hilton Hotels’ founder Conrad Hilton said, "Abilene, Texas, will be well prepared to handle large conventions and please the most fastidious visitor." Nearly 95 years later, Abilene has fulfilled this vision and is excited to welcome back the Hilton family of hotels in the heart of downtown Abilene with a recently announced DoubleTree by Hilton.
