Just because it might be cold outside, doesn’t mean that meetings stop. Here in the Midwest, we know how to embrace the cold, move our meetings and events inside, and utilize all that indoor venues have to offer. The best part? Chicago Northwest is running a promotion for groups who have never travelled to the region before. Sign a contract with one of Meet Chicago Northwest’s partner hotels during the winter months through 2019 and receive money off your master bill. Once you’re here and settled, make sure to check out one of the area’s great winter attractions.

1. The Spa at Eaglewood Resort: Take a journey towards pure tranquility at The Spa at Eaglewood Resort. From the moment you walk into the spa, you’ll forget about the cold outside and feel as if you entered a wellness sanctuary. Remove the tension of the holiday season with a massage therapy treatment or scrub away the past year with a facial or plump & peel.

2. Woodfield Shopping Trolley: This free trolley provides front door service to various stops in the village including Woodfield Mall, Streets of Woodfield, Woodfield Village Green, IKEA and the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel. With newly-expanded service hours, the trolley now runs every 20 minutes each day of the week until January 1 (then starts up again from Memorial Day to Labor Day) and makes getting around the Woodfield area a breeze.

3. Snowshoeing at Spring Valley: Experience the beauty of the winter landscape in a new way. The Schaumburg park offers snowshoe rentals beginning December 1, but only if there are at least four inches of snow on the ground. Groups can rent shoes for $4 per person for a maximum of three hours between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily.

4. Train to Downtown Chicago: Hop on a Metra train to downtown and enjoy shopping on the Magnificent Mile or explore all that the holidays have to offer in Chicago. Between the Christkindlmarket, ZooLights at Lincoln Park Zoo, Winter WonderFest at Navy Pier, and the Macy's Holiday Window Exhibits, there’s always something to put your group in the holiday mood.

5. Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament: For a family-friendly option, check out this Schaumburg attraction. Bring the kinds and enjoy a show filled with knights, horses and dueling. With every performance comes a four-course meal, including a vegetarian option and groups can pick from three different corporate packages. There’s even a new show featuring a Queen for the first time. Visit to find out if she takes the throne.

6. Downtown Arlington Heights: If you’d prefer to stay out of downtown Chicago, but still want to experience the holiday atmosphere and lively food scene, head to downtown Arlington Heights. Arlington Heights is home to more than 200 restaurants with nearly 30 of them located downtown. The cuisine ranges from sushi, to authentic Irish food, to tapas, to pizza. The town is also full of holiday cheer with a decorated tree on the park’s fountain, lights up and down the streetscape trees, and several holiday displays that carry out a children’s toy theme.

7. Level 257 & Punch Bowl Social: For a mix of work and fun, head to Schaumburg and check out Level 257 or Punch Bowl Social. Level 257 can host groups varying in size from 10 to 800 individuals and guests can enjoy bowling, ping pong and arcade games in their downtime. Punch Bowl Social also offers an array of games including arcade, karaoke, bowling, foosball and ping pong, among others. With a full kitchen and bar and an onsite event staff, all planners have to do is get groups to show up and Punch Bowl Social will take care of the rest.

8. Restaurant Row in Schaumburg: Feeding a crowd is always a top priority, but not always an easy feat. With food allergies and sensitivities, limited private dining space and picky eaters, finding one restaurant to satisfy all your dining needs might not always be possible. Luckily, Schaumburg’s Restaurant Row offers a wide range of food types all within walking distance of one another so that each attendee can find something that works for them. The Clubhouse, Egg Harbor Café, Weber Grill, Giordano’s, On the Border and Kuma’s Corner are just some of the dining establishments available to you and your group.

9. Metropolis Performing Arts Centre: This performing arts centre hosts hundreds of produced and presented performances each year including a variety of concerts, comedy, and cabarets. Groups can use the 329-seat theater to host events, or utilize the performances for a cultural team building experience. Groups of 10 or more receive 20% off the single ticket price to select shows, service charges are waived, and free parking is provided.

10. Cork & Tap Tastings: Nothing brings event attendees together like bonding over an alcohol beverage. Church Street Brewing Co., Mikerphone Brewery, Lynfred Winery, and Itasca Brewing Company, Roselare are just a few places in the Chicago Northwest area available to indulge in a post-meeting happy hour. With each venue offering different sizes of event space and varying tour schedules, there’s a place guaranteed to fit any group’s need.

Each morning at 6:15 a.m., Spiaggia Director of Sales Erica Yack wakes up, drinks her coffee, walks a mile to her office at 980 N. Michigan, and works on returning hundreds of emails and voicemails (including at least 12-15 RFPs a day). But if that was the most rigorous part of her routine, it would be a quiet day for Yack, who is constantly caught in a balancing act that includes managing client demands, following up on leads, executing events and leading a small sales team at the fine-dining restaurant.
