Go Behind the Scenes of the Indy 500 with MPI

Hello readers,

Ever wondered what it takes to produce an event like the Indy 500? Now you can get the inside scoop with a special experiential event from Meeting Professionals International, slated for May 26-29 in Indianapolis. This special MPI series, which launched two years ago, also has upcoming events aboard the Royal Caribbean cruise ship, at C2 Montreal and the 74th Annual Venice Film Festival in Italy, but the racing event is the most easily accessible for Illinois planners.

Pet Friendly Events Create Experiences that Cater to all Guests

Puppies toted around in purses is no longer a bizarre sighting, especially as more and more people are bringing their pets everywhere they go—including meetings and events. In fact, it’s become such a phenomenon that many hotels have now started to welcome canine companions with open arms.

Signature Drink: Blood and Sand

Restaurateur Amy Morton recently opened her latest Evanston dining space, The Barn, housed in a former 19th-century brick farmhouse. The “meatcentric hideaway” is a far cry from her veggie hot spot Found, and is an homage to her family lineage (her dad founded the Morton Steakhouse chain). In addition to hearty plates sourced by local farms, Beverage Director Michelle Sallemi whips up a classic cocktail menu with a number of twists, as seen in this spicy tequila drink.

New Venue Spotlight: Venue One North Shore

Chicago Bulls fans might remember the former Berto Center—once the basketball team’s training center—but on May 4, 2016, it became the latest fully functional event space in the northern suburbs. Venue One North Shore offers 85,000 square feet that can be used for meetings, celebrations and other private events for up to 1,500 people.
