Hello readers, The craft beer movement is moving into McCormick Place. North America’s largest convention center is now also the first in the country to have its own branded beer using hops grown on the building’s rooftop. McCormick Place Everyday Ale made its debut at the Chicago Auto Show the weekend of Feb. 11 and 12. It’s described as a “refreshing Session Ale with a light malt backbone and hopped with Citra, Amarillo and Cascade hops.” The brew is an example of SAVOR…Chicago’s commitment to providing culinary excellence to the convention center since taking over operations in 2011.
This week we may witness history as the Chicago Cubs travel to Cleveland and continue their bid in the World Series where they could end up winning the championship for the first time in more than 100 years. The stakes are high, with everyone making wagers on the final team standing—including Kimpton Hotels. Last week Kimpton’s combined Chicago properties (the Allegro, Monaco, Palomar, Burnham and the Gray) sent a goat and the following message to their partner, The Schofield Hotel in Ohio.
The Gwen, a Luxury Collection Hotel, in Chicago announced the appointment of Scott Stuckey to general manager. Stuckey brings more than 27 years hospitality industry experience to his new position.
He will be responsible for the 300-room hotel’s 15,000 square feet of meeting and event space, Circa restaurant and lounge, and the hotel’s outdoor terrace, Upstairs at the Gwen.
