In our Winter 2017 issues, we’re featuring the tech companies that were part of the 2016 ibtm America TechCollective in partnership with DAHLIA+. Because we can only fit so much in print, read on for our full interview with Holden Bigler-Johnson, customer success and business development, Lumi.

Meetoo is a live polling app with real-time messaging that works seamlessly with PowerPoint.

What are some of Meetoo’s outstanding features for meeting/event planners?

Meetoo is a real-time polling and discussion app that transforms meetings and events by engaging and involving audiences.

Developed by Lumi—a global leader in engagement technology—Meetoo can be set up in minutes. Accessible on any device, it is our simple, single-minded solution for vibrant, exciting meetings.

Meetoo’s real-time polling helps bridge the audience engagement gap and make meetings more fun, while the live discussion and Q&A features mean everyone has the chance to share ideas, feedback and questions.

As well as its ease of use, seamless integration with PowerPoint and Excel make Meetoo the sharpest tool in an event planner’s box. The free PowerPoint add-in allows speakers to add polls and interactivity to their slides and presentations in seconds – either beforehand or on the go. And Meetoo’s one-click reporting lets planners and organizers export results, questions and attendance stats into Excel spreadsheets.

The most popular new feature is the instant branding which can even rebrand the full app mid meeting without any need to refresh! Great for launches and sponsors.

What was the inspiration for starting Meetoo? When was it founded and where are you based?

For more than 25 years Lumi has been driven by the idea that meetings can be transformed beyond people’s imagination with content, polling and other engagement ideas delivered on
hand-held devices. As smartphone and tablet technologies evolved, we developed Meetoo—the sharpest possible tool for live polling and discussion at meetings and events.

With a global presence that includes offices throughout Europe and the UK (head office) as well as the US, Australia, South Africa, Hong Kong and Singapore, Meetoo is transforming meetings and events worldwide.

Do you have any numbers/figures/percentages you can share related to the technology that would interest planners?

In the last four months alone, more than 30,000 people have attended a meeting with Meetoo.

With almost 3,000 active accounts, more than 6,000 people attend a Meetoo meeting every month!

Meeting sizes vary from a handful or people to more than 1000.

More than 90 percent of meetings using live polling also utilize the moderated Q&A and discussion feature.

The platform Meetoo adapted and integrated with another Lumi system to allow shareholders to vote at annual meetings on their smart devices and PCs—a recent high-profile client being Jimmy Choo, the British luxury brand specializing in shoes and accessories.

As with most facets of the meetings and events industry, the art of managing an event budget is a true balancing act. And while it’s easy to get wrapped up in the nitty-gritty, Eventbrite revealed a pleasant surprise in its 2018 Pulse Report (which surveyed 1,200 planners), finding that event budgets overall appear to be on the rise. But where exactly are those budget dollars going these days and how can planners best spend to craft memorable moments?

According to the Illinois Department of Agriculture, about 1.5 million Illinois workers are employed in the food and fiber system, ranking it as one of the top states in dependency on agriculture. The state’s 72,500 farms utilize 75 percent of Illinois land, including some of the most fertile soil in the world. While nicknamed “The Prairie State,” Illinois is truly a land of plenty and a hub for agritourism—with some of the largest agriculture-focused events (holding the potential for major economic impact) taking place inside its borders.
