The new $100 million Edgewood Tahoe Lodge has opened on the south shore of Lake Tahoe after more than two decades of difficulties of strict regulations regarding the environment and four years of reviewing plans and obtaining permits for construction to begin in 2012. The Edgewood Tahoe Lodge's completion was dependent on limiting storm water runoff that is harmful to Lake Tahoe, as well as protecting wetlands, according to the Tahoe Daily Tribune.
The newest location of Portillo's has opened in Woodbury. The opening of the restaurant's 50th location and first Minnesota restaurant was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by founder Dick Portillo, CEO Keith Kinsey, and Woodbury Mayor Mary Giuliani Stephens.

1. What are you looking forward to in your new role as executive chef at Omni Frisco Hotel?
Minnesotans, get excited. The tantalizing menu at Portillo’s—Chicago’s fast casual restaurant that serves Chicago-style cuisine—will now be available in Woodbury. The restaurant will be located at 8450 Hudson Road. They are set to begin construction in the coming months and are slated for a summer 2017 opening—the perfect seasons for hot dogs, a menu favorite.
Chicago native, Karen McGuigan, general manager at Hyatt Centric The Look Chicago, has just reached a milestone in her career—30 years in the Chicago hotel industry.
McGuigan began her career in January 1987, working at the front desk at Hyatt Regency O'Hare. For 15 years, she worked at various Hyatt locations in the Chicago area in a number of different capacities, including director of security at Hyatt Regency Chicago. In 2014, she joined the pre-opening team for Hyatt Centric, which opened last April.
Chicago-based restaurant group Bottleneck Management announced the opening of its third restaurant in Maryland. The restaurant, Old Town Pour House, marks the group’s first venture outside of the Midwest and the eighth property in its portfolio.
Soho House announced the opening of its new Chicago location, placed in the West Loop district, for August 2014. This marks the fifth Soho House location in North America, joining New York, Miami Beach, West Hollywood and Toronto.
