The Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (RACVB) earned two awards from the Illinois Governor’s Conference on Travel & Tourism. The RACVB was awarded for the BYG2RKFD sports marketing campaign in the Best Branding Initiative category and for the Rockford Peaches 75th Anniversary events and promotions partnership in the Best Cooperative Partnership category.

RACVB’s sports marketing campaign utilized several notable locals, including Fred VanVleet, Kenny Gould, Corey Anderson and Nicole Briscoe, as well as the Rockford region’s multiuse facilities.

Their partnership was for the Rockford Peaches 75th Anniversary events that occurred in summer 2019. RACVB was proud to take part in planning, promoting and executing along with the lead partners at the International Women’s Baseball Center and Friends of Beyer Stadium.

“We are honored to accept these awards on behalf of the great communities we serve and would like to thank our area partners for their support and commitment when working on community-wide events and program. With these invaluable partnerships, we are able to produce award-winning work and results,” says RACVB President and CEO John Groh. “We will continue to put a bright spotlight on the Rockford region in the year ahead.”

The Illinois Governor’s Conference on Travel & Tourism is an annual reminder of the influence of the industry on the economy of Illinois. Tourism continues to have a crucial impact on communities at the local and state level. Over the course of 2017, an additional 1.6 million travelers visited Illinois, bringing an increase in visitor spending, tax revenue and local jobs.

When revealing the numbers in May 2018, the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity’s Office of Tourism noted that 2017 marked the seventh consecutive year of record-breaking tourism in the state. The nearly 114 million people who traveled to the state last year gave a $1.1 billion boost to the state’s economy.

This November, Tapestry Collection by Hilton opened its first property in Illinois—The Rose Hotel Chicago O’Hare. The new hotel, designed by The Gettys Group, has eight modern meetings and event spaces, totaling 6,000 square feet of functional, flexible space.

The Rose Hotel Chicago O’Hare, Tapestry Collection by Hilton officially opened this holiday season on November 15 while honoring veteran Elizabeth O’Byrne in conjunction with Veterans Day. O’Byrne and her family received the first guest special experience at the hotel’s grand opening event.

If Willy Wonka planned a meeting break, this is what it might look like: blueberry treats that can be plucked from the walls, cheesecake pops dipped in Nerds, everlasting gobstobbers in every flavor and strawberry (or snozberry?) smoothie shots. This sweet idea comes to life complete with an accompanying soundtrack at LondonHouse Chicago this fall, thanks to Executive Chef Jacob Verstegen, who was inspired to create the package after an interactive dining and music experience at Elizabeth Restaurant.
