Mark your calendars for the Joliet Area’s first-ever Restaurant Week! This winter, The City of Excitement will be heating things up by showing guests around some of the best eateries in the area. The big event, put on by Heritage Corridor Convention and Visitors Bureau, will go through Feb. 17–26.
Seven years ago, the City of Chicago kicked off what has become one of the biggest annual foodie celebrations in the country: Chicago Restaurant Week. The program, which was extended to two full weeks and this year was from January 30 to February 12, offers prix fixe lunches and dinners that have helped to put the city on the map as a culinary destination. It also benefits restaurants by giving them a much-needed boost during the slow, post-holiday period when people dine out less and McCormick Place hosts fewer conventions.
Food enthusiasts of Chicago’s northwest region will be pleased to know that Meet Chicago Northwest is launching Restaurant Week 2014. Meet Chicago Northwest is the area’s official destination marketing organization and has created the inaugural event in partnership with over 30 local dining establishments, all offering affordable three-course prix fixe lunch and dinner menus.
