• Signature Drink Blueberry Lemonade Old Fashioned

Scott Castillo-Milburn, owner of mobile bartending service Classic Cocktails by Scott, developed this recipe last summer for a client who was looking for a bourbon-based drink that would feel seasonal and light for an evening party. The night ended with everyone who’d tried it asking for the recipe, and Castillo-Milburn has since replicated it at 10 events. He’s kept the drink a secret—until now. You can hire his company to create this drink for an event, create a new signature cocktail, or even obtain general liability or liquor liability insurance for your venue.  

INGREDIENTS
- 3-4 blueberries, plus more for garnish
- 4 dashes cherry bitters
- lemon wheel
- .5 oz. simple syrup
- .5 oz. fresh lemon juice
- 2 oz. Bulleit Bourbon
- 3 oz. ginger ale

DIRECTIONS
In a rocks glass, add three to four blueberries, the lemon wheel, cherry bitters, simple syrup and lemon juice. Lightly muddle all ingredients. Fill the glass with ice and add 2 ounces of Bulleit Bourbon. Stir with a cocktail spoon, then top with ginger ale. Garnish with a lemon twist and two blueberries on a cocktail skewer.

Nearly 200 guests convened in the lobby of the stunning Builders BLDG at 222 N. LaSalle in Chicago on May 10 for the Illinois M+E Best of 2018 readers’ choice awards. DJ D. Jones spun upbeat tunes, while MDM Entertainment provided A/V and Tag Prints hosted a photo booth. The event was co-hosted by DineAmic Group and Builders BLDG and emceed by one of the magazine’s associate publishers, Susan Rose. It was a night to remember for all the Best of winners and finalists and Hall of Fame recipients.
